"DiExMachina" (DiExMachina)

Hello All, I am trying to help my father identify this car. His friend from highschool sent this to him trying to figure it out.
I think the wheels look Mopar’ish. But I can’t find a car with that C Pillar shape. I am guessing it will be found in about 30 minutes.
I have come to the conclusion that it has to be a 67 or 68 Plymouth Valiant. It is the only vehicle with the correct body lines on the lower half of the doors.

I’m not good with older American iron, but a Plymouth Satellite perhaps?

65 Chrysler Imperial or some sort of AMC

No go with that one on the 4 doors. Tried searching a few years. The Satellites are really similar to my 68 Plymouth GTX. The C pillar is all wrong.

That is too big. This looks to be more of a smaller car.

Huh, you are right, but that C pillar is quite Chrysler Imperial-esque

Close, but the polara’s have a side wing looking piece of body work coming off the sides above the wheels. The one in the picture is pretty plain along the sides.

Doesn’t look like it. Ramblers had some side moldings. This one doesn’t.

some of the polara’s had that metal strip along the bottom of the c pillar. But then they almost all had a long metal molding going down the whole side of the car. This one doesn’t have it :(

Yeah, that is the closest thing I am coming up with. The ridge line along the lower half of the car matches. It dips towards the back of the rear door. They are the only ones with that matching metal trim along the bottom of the C pillar.

that is pretty well what i was going off of, was that lower ridge, and that swoop....... everyone in the picture crowded the identifying details, like the smoker window in the back,
......... but i can CLEARLY tell, that those wheels are 14" dodge 4.25 inch bolt pattern wheels, with reverse threads, JUST from the picture........

Got it I think - late 60's Dodge Coronet?
Fender shape seems to match perfectly in the rear for the wheel cutout, as does the shape of the rear edge of the door? Same style door handles as well? Also, chrome strip on / similar shape C-Pillar? and same long trunk?

On second thought....maybe not - antenna location doesn’t match...

I think it’s a 65-68 Plymouth Fury, very basic spec with no side trim pieces. The dog dish hubcaps add that touch to it, too.

The mini fins visible driver side trunk and hood look a little lincoln-ey..though the wheels seem rather pedestrian..

Yep, my dad’s friend finally found out what it was. An old Colorado state police car. Fury II.
